Named after the Melaleuca Stypheliodies (prickly-leaved paperbark) native to the area, Melaleuca Apartments is City West Housing’s first site in the Canterbury Bankstown LGA. The site is within an easy walk of the Bankstown City Centre and train station, which is undergoing a Metro conversion.

The proposed redevelopment of the site will provide 126 apartments, all for use as affordable rental housing.

The DA has been approved by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and demolition of the existing buildings is planned for later this year.

Melaleuca Apartments are located at 30-34 Sir Joseph Banks Street in Bankstown within the City of Canterbury Bankstown Local Government Area.  The site is conveniently located in Bankstown Centre with Bankstown City Centre, Bankstown Train Station, the new hospital and Western Sydney University Campus all conveniently located nearby.

The site’s traditional custodians are the Bidjigal people of the Eora nation.
