City West Housing celebrated its 30-year milestone with an inspiring stakeholder event at The Mint on Macquarie St on 6 June. Guests included state and local government staff and elected officials, former shareholder representatives, current and former partners and advisers and members of City West Housing’s Tenant Voice group, the Board and staff.
Guest speaker Mike Allen, a former CEO of Housing NSW, reflected on City West Housing’s journey over the past 30 years.
“Thirty years after City West Housing was first established, there is now a strong, sustainable and regulated community housing sector in NSW with scale and healthy balance sheets, but none of us have the 30-year development track record that City West Housing has,” he said.
City West Housing Chair Diana D’Ambra reflected on the recent important changes to City West Housing’s business framework that have helped set the company up for the next 30 years, including “changes to the Constitution to ensure it is contemporary and fit-for-purpose, allowing us to borrow, allowing us to enter into partnerships and joint ventures, and a simplified group structure, so we can better manage risk.”
She also acknowledged the many hundreds of individuals over the past 30 years that have helped City West Housing get to where it is today, stating that “the journey of CWH over the years is a testament to the power of collective effort and shared vision.”
Guests watched a new video featuring inspiring resident stories and a timeline of City West Housing’s 30-year history, and were Welcomed to Country by Dr Peter Yanada McKenzie.
