MEDIA RELEASE: HOUSING SELL-OFF RAISES $8M

More than $8 million from the sale of historic homes in Ultimo will go towards new affordable housing projects. Four Victorian terraces owned by City West Housing at No.70, 72, 76 and 78 Mary Ann St and a sandstone cottage at No.99 Hackett St sold at auction late last year. Two more terraces at No.68 and 74 will go to auction on Thursday night, with the third and final property at No.80 to be sold next month.

City West Housing chief executive Janelle Goulding said she was very pleased with the results.

“The funds will be able to provide the accommodation and help, which is fantastic.”

She said City West Housing had committed the money to the construction of 77 new affordable apartments at Harold Park.
