Why City West Housing?
Part of my desire to change careers to property was so that I could build affordable housing for people who needed it most as I believe that being able to provide stable housing for someone enables them to live out their life on a greater scale as housing stress is removed from the equation. I’ve finally landed at an organisation who has that at their core.
Tell me a little about your career journey and highlights?
Property is my second career. I took a “mature age” gap year to work in the Canadian ski fields and during this year I was inspired to come home and follow a long held dream of working in the property industry. I went back to uni and studied a Masters in Property Development and then got a summer intern position with Lendlease. I ended up staying 10 years and worked on the Barangaroo development over this timeframe working on the commercial buildings and the residential apartments.
Where do you live?
I’m an inner westie living in Annandale, but spent my childhood growing up in the St George Shire.
Heading to the beach to have some fun digging and swimming with our two boys followed by a well earned nap!
Go to meal for brunch?
Salmon eggs benedict, eggs must be soft poached though!
Memorable holiday destination?
Before Children (I.e. BC as my husband and I say) we did two amazing holidays – the Northern Lights and the Tour De France. We actually saw the northern lights in the far north of Sweden and we cycled some amazing mountain peaks including Alpe d’Huez and stood on the finish podiums ahead of the professional riders. Reminiscing about these holidays is getting me through lockdown.
Quote/catchphrase to keep you motivated?
I can thank my year 12 economics teacher for my catchphrase – “If it is to be, it is up to me”, it reminds me that I set my course and I can do whatever I put my mind to.
