City West Housing has been running an annual Rent Competition to encourage residents to keep on top of their rent and other accounts, especially during the holiday season.
Recently James visited City West Housing to receive his prize.
James has been a resident of City West Housing for over 20 years and lives in Ultimo. When James found out he was one of our Rent Competition winners he said, “It was like I’d won the lottery. I was delighted!” At over 70 years of age and looking to retire soon, he said “Every little bit helps.”
“There was a time when I fell behind with my rent,” James recalled. “It was not a nice feeling, and it took me a while to pay it all back. Now I always make it a priority to pay my rent, and even pay a bit extra if I can.”
James took home a gift card worth $250. When asked what he will buy with it, he smiled and said, “I need some new jeans, and maybe a pair joggers!”
Congratulations James, and also Wendy and Suzanne, for getting ahead with your rent last month.
