City West Housing resident Allirah McIntyre was presented with the Outstanding Young Person Award and prize gift card recently for her engagement in the local community.
Allirah is a 16-year-old high school student who participates in City West activities to contribute positively to others in their building, such as assisting with the communal garden. She works at a local café on weekends and has volunteered at a nearby medical centre.
Allirah enjoys all things creative and helping people whenever she can – neighbours, strangers, family and friends.
When asked how she felt when told she received the award, Allirah said, “I was so shocked! I didn’t expect to win, but I’m so grateful. I’ve already started using the gift card to buy Christmas gifts for my family and I’ve also treated myself – thank you, City West!”
