City West Housing will continue its partnership with Good Shepherd Financial Counselling in 2023 to support residents who struggle with rent arrears debt and in managing their finances generally.
Head of Housing Services and Community Engagement Mark Reader said, “I am pleased that we are continuing our partnership with Good Shepherd Financial Counselling for a third year and making it easier for residents who struggle with serious debt to get the help they need.”
Residents can now self-refer to this free service on a confidential basis, as well as via referral from City West Housing staff. Good Shepherd Financial Counselling can help with issues including:
- Advice on debt and debt enforcement
- Advocating and negotiating with banks and other lenders
- Referrals to other community, health, and legal services.
The service cannot pay off residents’ debts, provide loans or attend tenancy tribunal hearings relating to rent arrears debt.
