Sunday Best Community Lunch
Sunday 16 June wasn’t just any ordinary Sunday. It was the day of the first-ever Sunday Best community lunch hosted by CWH in partnership with the City of Sydney.
The lunch began with a quick session of networking and reconnecting, neighbours meeting new neighbours and old friends. What an astonishing sight it was, to see so many people from different backgrounds and ages chatting, laughing and hugging in the one room. The buzz and excitement was infectious!
The lunch was officially opened by the Lord Mayor Clover Moore. After the formalities were completed, residents were able to meet the Lord Mayor in an intimate setting and were inspired as she spoke passionately about the history of Green Square and her vision for the future.
There were several long communal tables, with resident made dishes and some food and drink provided by the City of Sydney, along with a chilled Latin jazz duo performed to complete what was a relaxed and very welcoming atmosphere.
Importantly, the event has created a warm and encouraging space for community members to build their social networks, and to encourage, support and inspire one another.
CWH would like to thank the residents who managed to attend despite the torrential weather.
