Towards sustainability and growth

City West Housing today launched our 2022 Towards Sustainability Annual Report, tracking a year of achievement and plans for significant growth.

CEO Leonie King said, “With another year marked by a raft of external economic, social and environmental impacts, this past financial year has been a year of uncertainty as well as opportunity.”

Highlights of the 2021-22 year included:

  • The establishment of a new subsidiary, CWH Sydney South Ltd, to raise finance to develop more affordable housing in the southern end of the City of Sydney
  • 42 investment apartments purchased in Bankstown LGA
    Our first Reconciliation Action Plan finalised along with the appointment of our new
  • Aboriginal Liaison Officer Pam Jackson to work with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander residents
  • A 9.6 per cent increase in rental income to $13.9 million
  • A $303 million development pipeline over the next five years, including 500 new apartments for 750 residents
  • Three 2021 UDIA NSW industry awards, including the President’s Award for Ironbark Apartments in Forest Lodge
  • An innovative $55 million financing partnership to develop the Boronia Apartments, including for women and children escaping family or domestic violence, including our first project finance from the National Housing and Finance Investment Corporation (NHFIC)
  • Expansion of our commitment to sustainable design through the solar project, reducing reliance on cars, gas-free future apartments, and ‘Designing from Country’ principles
  • A new Support Partnerships Strategy to guide with whom and how we partner to support our more vulnerable residents.
