The Community Impact Awards is an initiative to celebrate the City West Housing residents who are making a significant impact on the people around them, their building or the broader community.
The winner of each award will receive a $1250 gift card.

Winners of the 2024 Community Impact Awards
Community Hero Award – Linda Ison
Recognised for starting a food pantry that she stocks by collecting food that would otherwise go to waste from surrounding businesses weekly. This benefits not only City West Housing residents in her building, but also nearby social housing residents and people who are homeless in her neighbourhood.
Creative Minds Award – Jamila and Craig McCarthy
Recognised for initiating a creative and collaborative note-making project. This collective journaling initiative is rooted in the belief that “collective note-making nurtures a diverse community where ideas are exchanged, enriching the creative process and resulting in profound, impactful works.”
Leadership Award – Amanda Bilson
Recognised for publicly championing housing affordability and the need for more affordable housing. She is always prepared to tell her story to shine a light on the housing crisis and to speak about the positive difference having access to secure housing for as long as she needs it has made to her life.
Outstanding Young Person Award – Amelia RodriguesÂ
Eight-year-old Amelia was recognised for showing leadership qualities even at her young age. She creates posters for the resident notice boards in her building encouraging residents to keep their environment clean and fostering a sense of pride and ownership in their building.
