City West Housing has marked a major milestone at Tallowwood Apartments with the topping out of its first project outside the City of Sydney. The ceremony traditionally celebrates the highest point of construction and symbolises progress and shared community achievement.
Scheduled for completion in mid-2026, the 11-storey mixed-use development sits in the heart of Rockdale town centre. The site is close to public transport, shops, services, and other essential local amenities.
Tallowwood Apartments will deliver 80 affordable rental homes for around 170 residents. The development focuses on creating a supportive place where people can feel secure and thrive.
City West Housing CEO Leonie King said the project shows what is possible through genuine collaboration with partners.
“We’re proud to help increase the supply of affordable housing for people on very low to moderate incomes, including essential workers, enabling them to live close to work and their community.”
For more than 30 years, City West Housing has provided safe, secure, affordable rental housing across inner Sydney. Tallowwood Apartments will extend this commitment by easing affordable housing pressures in the Bayside area.
