A new chapter in Housing Services and Community Engagement

City West Housing is delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Ellis as our new Head of Housing Services and Community Engagement.

Lisa will commence in the role in late June and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of housing operations including tenancy management, and community engagement. Bringing with her over 18 years’ senior experience in for-purpose organisations, Lisa comes to us from Wesley Mission where she has spent the past five years as the strategic and operational Head of Community Housing. During this time, Lisa oversaw portfolio growth of over 50%, including into new types of housing and new locations.

Lisa takes over from Mark Reader who has a long history in the community housing sector, having worked for a number of different community housing organisations in NSW including as the first employee of City West Housing some 30 years ago, and for the NSW Government.

During his long career, Mark’s achievements have been many. In addition to oversight of community housing operations, Mark’s career highlights include developing the capacity and capability of the community housing sector, including oversight of the transfer of title and management of some 5,500 newly built social housing dwellings to the community housing sector under the 2009 Nation Building and Economic Stimulus Plan, along with 3,000 existing public housing dwellings. We wish Mark all the best in his (semi) retirement.

One year into a committed five-year strategic plan, Lisa is joining CWH at an exciting and vital time, working with the leadership team and Board to deliver sustainable growth and diversification of our housing portfolio. This means delivering more affordable homes to those in need at a time when housing affordability is such a critical issue.

CEO Leonie King said: “I am delighted to have Lisa join the City West Housing team at this critical time, with two affordable housing developments in construction and another four in the pipeline, including our first development outside the City of Sydney”. Lisa brings a wealth of experience in identifying, planning and leading growth, as well as delivering on process and service improvement initiatives.

Reflecting on her new role, Lisa said “I’m excited to join the City West Housing team at this time of growth, enabling more people to move out of housing stress and remain living and working in their local communities.”
