Increasing access to the arts

In a bid to increase access to the arts and engagement within the local community, Carriageworks generously provided free tickets for City West Housing residents to attend family-friendly shows this week.

Just in time for the school holidays, Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo connects audiences to the real science of palaeontology. The show allowed our young residents to get right up close and personal with an amazing array of prehistoric creatures, from baby dinosaurs to some of the largest carnivores and herbivores to ever walk the planet.

City West Housing is grateful for Carriageworks and Erth’s support in bringing the joy of live theatre to our residents and empowering young people through the arts.
Engaging with the arts has been shown to have significant positive impacts on young people’s wellbeing, educational outcomes and social development.

One very impressed resident commented, “It was a great show – very engaging and interactive. My son and I had a great experience. It provided a good opportunity for the kids to attend something unique.”

Another resident, who brought two of her grandchildren to see the show, said, “I really appreciated getting the free tickets because they allowed me to take my grandkids out to something fun. Now that I’m retired, I don’t always have the money to spend on experiences like this.”
