New Rockdale development on exhibition!

City West Housing’s Development Application (DA) for Haven Apartments at 427-429 Princes Highway, Rockdale in the Rockdale Town Centre is now on exhibition until 25 March!

This project is our first development outside the City of Sydney leveraging our experience in developing residential apartments for affordable housing. Affordable apartments are an important part of the mix in creating diverse, welcoming communities.

Our DA includes:

  • 85 apartments for Affordable Housing and market rental
  • Two ground floor commercial tenancies

Following CWH’s Approach to Design, the project delivers on our Wellbeing, Belonging, Value and Collaboration goals through:

Wellbeing of our Residents

  • Livable Silver for minimum 20% apartments
  • 9 adaptable apartments
  • 3 bedroom family units on lower floors
  • Majority of units have dedicated work/study areas
  • Passive design
  • Apartment mix representative of local demand

Belonging in our Communities

  • Design from Country approach for the landscape and public domain strategy
  • Designed to be indistinguishable from market housing
  • Flexible mixed tenure providing affordable and market rental housing
  • Useable common spaces
  • Contribute to local character by improving the pedestrian experience at the ground level

Value for City West Housing

  • Use of robust finishes that reduce maintenance costs such as brick façade
  • Consider long term sustainability – No natural gas in the development to reduce carbon emissions
  • Reduce operational costs by using solar PV panels
  • High efficiency water fixtures and rainwater harvesting reuse

Collaboration with Partners

  • Including GoGet Carshare spaces within the site available for the building residents and greater Rockdale community
  • Incorporating resident feedback into our design such as covered communal areas
  • Early and frequent engagement with Bayside Council to address potential issues such as: Design Excellence, Landscaping and Public Domain, Waste and Traffic Management.

This site is part of the 500 new apartments we have in the pipeline for delivery in the next 5 years which will provide vital housing for some 750 new residents on moderate to very low incomes.
